Carnegie Mellon University Scholarships 2019

The Carnegie Technical Schools were founded in 1900 by Andrew Carnegie. The Mellon Institute of Industrial Research was founded in 1913 by Andrew & Richard B. Mellon. It wasn’t until 1967 that Carnegie and Mellon merged into one institution. The main campus spans 140 acres in Pittsburgh, PA. Now, Carnegie Mellon University scholarships are available for international students!

Carnegie Mellon University has just over 13,000 students, with undergraduates and graduate students almost evenly divided. 23% of the undergraduate population is made up of international students. There are 1,400+ full-time professors.

There are over 200 student organizations and art galleries at Carnegie. The most popular galleries, The Frame, and the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery contain both student and professional artworks. Fraternities and sororities are a large part of life at the University, with an annual fundraiser called Greek Sing. This fundraiser contributes money to many different organizations. The college also prides itself on its athletics.

The University has 81 buildings in their main campus which are scattered with large sculptures and grassy knolls. CMU’s international campus is housed in Qatar. There are seven schools in the Pittsburgh campus: the College of Engineering, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Social Sciences, the College of Information Systems, the College of Science, the School of Computer Science and the School of Business. CMU also has several libraries containing six special collections open to the public.
The Endowment has assets totaling over $2 billion. The Investment Office oversees how the money is best utilized by the college. A large portion of this endowment goes to fund the Carnegie Mellon University scholarships for international students!

Many Carnegie alumni have gone on to be leaders in fields such as aeronautics, computer science, sports, arts, and business, among others. Alumni have a combined 11 Nobel Prizes, 5 Turing Awards, 4 National Medals of Science, and 3 National Medals of Technology. Carnegie Mellon provides the tools graduates need to succeed in their careers and academic life.

Carnegie Mellon University Scholarships (Undergraduate)
Unfortunately, the university does not award aid to international undergraduate students. If you want to attend, you need to pay the full cost. However, there are many others that you can apply and get scholarships. See US Scholarships Category for more information.

Carnegie Mellon University Scholarships and Admissions (Graduate)
As you can see in Prospective Students Page, you will need to contact the department of your choice for scholarship information. This happens because the departments in graduate schools take the admissions process and scholarships administration separately. So, you will need to go to your specific department found in the Prospective Students Page for admissions process and scholarship information. Many of these departments give generous Carnegie Mellon University Scholarships to graduate students, so apply!
